ASHBURTON SOLAR FARM 7.2 MW
The Ashburton Solar Farm is a community-scale solar farm of 7.2 MW capacity, connected to the local Ashburton power network. The solar farm covers eight hectares of an existing 16-hectare rural lifestyle farm south of Ashburton. The landowner will graze sheep under the solar farm array and the solar farm lease will supplement income from the farm.
The site contains thousands of solar panels that track the movement of the sun across the day and produces clean electrical energy for the needs of the local district, including powering irrigation pumps through the summer months.
Lightyears built and developed the entire 7.2MW farm, and own and operate 1MW of the total, with RCR Green owning the remainder.
