Naumai Solar Farm sold to Infratec NZ

Naumai Solar Farm, Lightyears Solar’s first site, was sold as a shovel-ready project to Infratec NZ in May 2022. The 5.5ha site, south of Dargaville, will be home to a 4.37MW utility-scale farm, with 7500 ground-mounted solar panels.

The solar farm has been designed to support continued agricultural activities around the solar infrastructure.

The site will output to the Northpower network and Maungaturoto GXP, providing some energy to the national grid, though a sizeable portion of the energy will stay local, providing most of the Ruawai district’s daytime energy needs.

“We’re pleased to play a part in bringing large scale solar to New Zealand, and to be working alongside Infratec on the delivery of this exciting project as part of our portfolio,” Lightyears Solar Development Manager Matt Shanks says.

Resource consent for the Naumai Solar Farm was granted in August 2020 and the farm is expected to be commissioned in early 2023. It has a planned operational life of 30 years.
