Callum Macdonald joins Lightyears Solar board
Lightyears Solar is delighted to welcome Callum Macdonald to our board. Callum brings a wealth of expertise in governance and strategic advice and will help support and guide Lightyears Solar as we further develop our business and make an impact in New Zealand’s renewable energy sector.
“Lightyears has started project construction of our own solar farm assets and continues to take on investment. As the company is experiencing rapid growth, we’re expanding our board to help us realise our potential as a key player in New Zealand’s solar industry,” says Matt Shanks, Lightyears Solar’s founder and development manager.
“We feel very fortunate to be able to benefit from Callum’s depth of experience across different sectors. We know he’ll bring a hugely valuable perspective to Lightyears Solar.”
“I love helping businesses grow and prosper,” says Callum.
“Growth is usually the single most expensive thing a business can do, be it time, money, resources, staffing, regulation, so there is a lot of hard work and challenges to overcome and working in this space excites me.
“Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is also increasingly becoming something that customers and investors are looking for in a business. It’s somewhere Lightyears Solar can have a real impact and I’m looking forward to working with them in this area.”
Callum is the principal of Consulere Limited, a specialist consulting firm for litigation support and governance, and previously spent 25 years in public practice, both with his own prominent North Shore Chartered Accounting firm and an international Chartered Accounting firm. He has also spent time working in a large District Health Board.
Callum splits his time between client advice, directorships, advisory board roles, trusteeships and court expert witness work. He is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Directors, and a Director of the Drug Detection Agency.
